Meet Dr. Conroy
As your orthodontist, I believe in always pursuing excellence with each smile I help create. I consider my patients as family, and I strive to meet their needs and exceed all their expectations when it comes to orthodontic treatment. I feel very lucky to work with so many great people; everybody from dentists and dental specialists, to my incredible office staff, and of course my wonderful patients who remind me every day why I chose to become an orthodontist! Education Before becoming an orthodontist, I attended University of Notre Dame where I completed my pre-dental education in 1983. In 1987, I graduated from the University of Connecticut School Of Dental Medicine with my Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree. I then accomplished a General Practice Residency in the US Air Force dental corps at Wright-Patterson Air force Base in Dayton, Ohio. On active duty for ten years in the Air Force, I had the opportunities to serve at Zaragoza Air Base, Spain, Charleston Air Force Base, SC and RAF Lakenheath, England. I completed my orthodontic education while still in the Air Force at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where I earned my Masters Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Continuing Education and Industry Involvement I believe in continuing education as a way for me to stay current on the latest products and treatment techniques in orthodontics. I participate in continuing education through the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA), including attending a leadership forum in 2005. I have also been recognized as a "Top Dentist" for several years in both "Connecticut Magazine" and "Hartford Magazine." I am particularly proud to be Board Certified, a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists. In addition, I am an active member in several orthodontic and dental associations, including:
- Awarded a Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy (2006) for outstanding contributions within my community.
- Fellow, World Federation of Orthodontists
- Bottom Line International Orthodontics Study Group - member and lecturer
- American Association of Orthodontics
- New England Society of Orthodontics
- Connecticut State Society of Orthodontists
- Connecticut State Dental Association
- Connecticut Study Club for Excellence in Dentistry
- Hartford Dental Society
- Middlesex County Dental Society - Past President, Chairman of Scholarship Committee
- CT Mission of Mercy
Still Smiling in his Spare Time When I'm not at the practice helping my patients take care of their smiles, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife, Jennifer, and our two daughters, Bernadette and Victoria. I love snow skiing, saltwater fishing, hiking, and watching college football, cheering for Notre Dame and UConn. I am an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
My community continuously supports me, and I am always looking for ways to give back to my community. I am involved in the Exchange Club of Middletown, on the Advisory Board for the Tunxis Community College Dental Assisting Program, and I sponsor youth baseball, t-ball, and basketball teams in many local communities, as well as participating in various other local organizations and activities. I feel privileged to be an active supporter of local schools, sports teams, bands, theater performances, safe graduation events and other organizations.
