How do clear aligners work?
Clear aligners are used instead of traditional braces, they are used to shift the teeth into their proper position without the inclusion of any metal, wires, or brackets. As treatment continues, you switch to the next set of aligners.
Aligners are worn for a minimum of 20 hours per day. After two weeks, you should be able to move to the next aligner in the series. The length of your treatment will depend on your diagnosis and typically ranges from six months to two years.
Advantages of orthodontic treatment with clear aligners:
Clear aligners are preferred by patients who do not want to wear metal braces but still want to enhance their smile.
- Clear aligners are easier to keep clean and can be removed to brush and floss your teeth
- Clear aligners are comfortable and less likely to irritate your gums and cheeks because they do not combine any metal.
- Clear aligners prevent wear on the teeth from tooth grinding by acting as a very thing mouthguard.
